Anna Wyrzykowska becomes first Polish lawyer heading AIJA

Anna Wyrzykowska, a partner at WKB, was recently elected President of AIJA (Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats / International Association of Young Lawyers) and has just begun her one-year term. Anna is the first person from Poland to take the lead of this truly global legal organisation.

Anna specialises in real estate law, M&A and corporate law. She heads the firm’s real estate and property development practice and also co-heads its French desk. She lectures on real estate and companies law at the Warsaw Bar Association, as well as authoring numerous publications, including two commentaries on Polish companies law.

It is really a great honour and, at the same time, a big challenge for me to be appointed as President of AIJA. I believe in the power of exchanging views and experiences by people from different parts of the world, and with various social, cultural and ethnic origins. Thanks to such dialogue, it is possible to find solutions which will respond to the numerous challenges that the future holds, more so in light of our recent global experiences during the pandemic. The speed of change within the legal profession is accelerating, and we are observing new trends and ongoing transformations which we will discuss during my presidency. I am glad that I will be able to represent not only young lawyers, but also Poland, in this discussion.” – said Anna Wyrzykowska.

We are immensely happy with Anna’s great success and extend our warmest congratulations to her. It is a great pleasure to work with a person who is a leader of a widely recognised legal organisation operating on a global scale. We know Anna very well and believe that thanks to her personality, experience and knowledge, she will guide AIJA through the turbulent waters of these challenging times. We keep our fingers crossed that all goes according to her ambitious plans. Anna’s success is also confirmation that the many years of supporting the international activities of our lawyers indeed makes perfect sense” – commented Aleksander Stawicki, WKB’s co-managing partner.

IJA, with a current membership of approximately 4,000 and operating for almost 60 years, is the only global association devoted to lawyers and in-house counsel aged 45 and under. AIJA enables lawyers from different countries to establish contacts and cooperate. AIJA’s activities are coordinated by 21 committees dealing with different areas of the law and legal practice.
