Izabela Szewczyk-Krzyżanowska joins WKB

Izabela Szewczyk-Krzyżanowska joins WKB’s dynamic and growing competition and consumer law team as a Counsel.

We are delighted to announce that Izabela Szewczyk-Krzyżanowska has joined WKB’s competition and consumer law team, which is ranked among the top Polish competition and consumer teams by all key international and Polish rankings (including Chambers Europe – Band 1, GCR100 – Elite, Legal500 – Top Tier, and recommended by “Forbes” and “Rzeczpospolita”).

Izabela has many years of experience, gained during her time at the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, where she was a Deputy Director and Director of the Department of Protection of Collective Consumer Interests.

She also has extensive experience in cooperating with EU institutions, in particular with the Council of the EU. Among other things, she was responsible for negotiations at the EU level on behalf of the Polish Government and the implementation of numerous provisions of consumer law into the Polish legal system. At the national level, she developed and coordinated the legislative process of many acts of fundamental importance to consumer protection.

She has also authored many opinions, positions, and legal analyses, in particular regarding requests to the CJEU for preliminary rulings, and has co-authored numerous publications on consumer law more broadly. In the recent Dziennik – Gazeta Prawna rankings, Izabela was included among the 50 most influential lawyers in Poland.

Izabela joins a team of fifteen and will work in close cooperation with Dorota Karczewska, former Vice-President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, who is responsible for our Firm’s consumer matters overall. Izabela’s extensive experience will also be key to a newly established team in the firm, which will advise our clients on their legislative projects.

We continue to strengthen our dream competition and consumer law team because this is what our clients expect when they entrust us with their most difficult cases. In such cases, the experience of people like Izabela and Dorota, who have spent many years enforcing competition and consumer law, is particularly valuable said Aleksander Stawicki, managing partner of the competition and consumer law practice.

Izabela is an outstanding specialist with whom I worked closely at the OCCP for many years. I believe that, thanks to our joint experience, we will be able to not only advise our firm’s clients to the highest level possible but will also be a reliable partner for the Office itself. Our goal is to always, to the extent possible, seek constructive solutions and avoid long-term disputes. In this context, it can be said that our role has not changed that much, although the tools we use are different – adds Dorota Karczewska, who supervises the team’s projects related to the protection of consumer interests.
