Ryanair Sun – a new carrier takes off in the Polish market thanks to WKB’s support
Ryanair Sun, a new airline offering flights to Poland’s favourite holiday destinations, commenced operations in April 2018. Ryanair Sun S.A. is an affiliate of Ryanair DAC, headquartered in Dublin, which is one of the largest low-cost airlines in the world.
The new charter airline has been launched to meet the growing Polish demand for air travel. In its first year of operation, Ryanair Sun will offer flights to Greece, Italy and Spain from airports in Warsaw (Okęcie), Katowice, Poznań, Kraków, Gdańsk and Rzeszów. The airline plans to extend its route network by adding Turkey and Albania in the future.
The support provided by WKB to Ryanair throughout the process of establishing Ryanair Sun S.A. included comprehensive corporate advice on setting up the company, increasing the share capital, and developing corporate governance rules, as well as day-to-day corporate assistance. WKB lawyers also advised on obtaining an operating licence to conduct commercial airline operations, as well as other permits and privileges related thereto.
In addition, WKB supported Ryanair in drawing up operational and technical documentation, developing the air carrier structure, obtaining special approvals and traffic rights, registering aircraft, and obtaining an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) and a Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation certificate (CAMO), as well as assisting during audits conducted at the air carrier’s headquarters.
The key members of WKB’s team were Anna Wojciechowska (partner) and Krzysztof Wawrzyniak (senior associate), who provided advice in the area of corporate and company law, and Jadwiga Stryczyńska (senior associate), who supported Ryanair Sun in all aviation regulatory matters.
